After studying sociology at the University of Neuchâtel, Hanja Maksim completed her doctoral studies at the EPFL (Laboratory of Urban Sociology). Her thesis examined the links between mobility issues, social inequalities and public policies. In 2014, she joined the Mobility Section at the Swiss Federal Statistical Office and has been in charge of the Mobility and transport microcensus since 2018.
